Kim Kardashian Halloween Outfit

This year I decided to get a little more creative with my Halloween outfit and had a stroke of luck when I found popper tracksuit bottoms at home.

They may have been five sizes too big for me and covered in mud from my brother wearing them to work but all I could see was Kim Kardashian’s mental tracksuit bottom and lingerie get-up!

To transform my pale Irish self into something vaguely resembling Kim, I had to be very creative.

I tried on several black bodysuits before settling on one from H & M which was €25. H & M offer 25% off one item when you subscribe to their emails so I duly did so and only paid €18.74.

The ensemble in all it’s glory!

I always try to use pieces that are already in my wardrobe for Halloween outfits where possible. For instance last year, I was a hippy and wore a bardot top with flares I bought in a charity shop.

Buying a wig however was crucial to the look and I got a long black one for €9.95 from Hairspray. It was fun to have long hair for one night and it made me feel super sassy!

The only issues I had with the wig was my natural hairline poked out a bit and it was also quite hot.

I layered fishnet tights also from H & M under the tracksuit bottoms with black peep-toe heels.

I’m allergic to fake tan but it was crucial for this look so I slapped on the Cocoa Brown and bronzed myself with abandon.

Only for my housemate to say “Where’s your tan Edel? You look so pale!” The photos say otherwise…

Kim K Kostume!

For jewellery, I added a simple black Penneys choker, Versace head earrings from Fleastyle.ie and a bling bracelet from Penneys.

Some eyeliner, black nail polish and individual fake lashes completed the look. A bronze or nude lippie is a Kim K beauty staple but I couldn’t find mine so went with a medium pink gloss.

I got some VERY strange looks as I strode across Dame Street in my popper trackies but what the hell it’s Halloween! In the bathrooms a girl asked me “How’s Kanye keeping?!” and another girl screamed “Yass queen!” at me in the street.

Despite being too big for me, the tracksuit bottoms were so comfy and luckily stayed up all night. Maybe Kim is onto something here….

I decided not to incorporate any “robbery” elements into the costume as that would have just been bad taste! Some booty padding might’ve made it more authentic though…

I wore a bomber jacket out for the night but if I’d had more time I would’ve gotten some white chalk to write Pablo on my denim jacket.

It was great fun to do a celebrity parody costume rather than my usual cartoon character/superheroine get-up and all I really needed was creativity!

Hope you all had a fun Halloween. Leave me a comment and let me know what you dressed up as this year.

River Island’s A/W Lingerie and Nightwear

Browsing recently in River Island I saw they have a GORGEOUS new lingerie and sleep wear line. I had to share it with you all!

I love the fact that many retailers have turned their backs on traditional stiff underwired bras and now many are selling lightweight lace bras which are really comfortable and pretty. I bought one from Etsy previously and Instagram is literally self-combusting with lace lingerie pictures! You can check out brands such as Greek Violet for beautiful lace bras and even Penneys are now selling bralets.

This River Island bralet is one of the nicest I’ve seen, I love the design and the unusual shape.

This body is incredible, a contrast between pretty lace and bondage style straps.

As well as the lace lingerie, River Island also have the nicest PJ’s I’ve seen in a long time. In fact they are far too nice to be pyjamas and ought to be worn down the street. I’ve a serious weakness for scarf print Versace-esque designs such as this cute two-piece. (I know who wants to see pyjama shorts at this time of the year but they are so cute!)

Naturally a floral item caught my eye 😉

I love a good dressing-gown/robe, there’s something about silky robes that makes me feel so glamorous!

This purple jacquard cami is adorable too.

As is the pink one! The pink set has matching shorts and the lilac has matching trousers.

I also finally got a henna design done at the Body Shop and loved the results! In fact they used a picture of my design to advertise the henna service which was pretty cool.

Lace Me Up

The latest trend I’m loving is the lace-up and lattice detailing. It’s very sexy and edgy, the perfect mix of gothic and punk. This style has been completely reincarnated from what it used to be. If you remember the early 00s trend of jeans with lace-up crotches (eww) please don’t worry, the revival is nothing like this.

Now forgive Paris for her sartorial sins and let’s move on!

Nasty Gal have nailed this trend with some amazing styles like these lace-up Tripp NYC trousers.

These trousers might be a little out there for some people’s tastes but I would buy them if I had the $$$!

Tripp NYC are a brand who specialise in gothic, punk and alternative styles. However styles such as the trousers above and below are slowly creeping into mainstream fashion. They are also available on Asos.

I also like this Nasty Gal dress with a lace-up front, it incorporates the trend but in a more feminine way.

Missguided is also an excellent source of lace-up loveliness! This lattice front bodysuit is €28 and looks amazing for a night out. It also comes in white.alt=<missguided bodysuit>

The obvious dilemma with lace-up styles is that your underwear choices are limited! If you prefer something less revealing, here’s a few items with subtle lace-up details.

This white top also from Missguided is perfect for casual wear.

Asos have a bodysuit with lace-up back detailing which is very pretty.

This trend extends to shoes, lace-up flats or ghillie shoes are the ultimate in casual chic. They are glamorous enough to wear with a dress but also look great with jeans.

I love these black patent ones from Warehouse.

alt=<ghillie shoes>

These shoes look best in neutral colours such as black, white and beige. Now there’s a sentence I thought I’d never say!!

However Topshop have brought out gorgeous silver and snakeskin versions.

Knee high lace-up boots are also really in fashion at the moment. This is NOT the easiest look to pull off, there’s a very fine line between fashion and trashy.

Very few people can pull these off without looking like (a) a prostitute or (b) Kylie Jenner. I don’t know which is worse…

Alternatively Boohoo.com have a range of more demure lace-up heels.

I imagine these laces would cut your feet after a while  but they look great!
